Sekasointuja
A production by Teatteri Saaga, the musical monologue Sekasointuja narrates the dramatic growth story of the poet L. Onerva. The performance depicts the young Onerva's struggle with childhood traumas, societal expectations, and the pressures of independence. Particularly overshadowing Onerva's life was the unclear fate of her mentally ill mother, leaving behind an incurable wound.
Hilja Onerva Lehtinen (1882-1972) lived her youth during a time when women's roles were strictly defined, and the poet's unconventional lifestyle for her era was not looked upon favorably. L. Onerva was a pioneer of art and an independent pathfinder, whose art and life events continue to move people even today.
The performance also features L. Onerva's poems, especially from her first collection "Sekasointuja," written at the age of 22, along with songs composed to her poems.
